Video (in Spanish) for those who doubt why FIU violated its contract for Industriales baseball game
It is still not known for sure what occurred a few weeks ago between Somos Cuba and Florida International University (FIU). The university, based in Miami, denied Somos Cuba and its president and director Alejandro Canton the right to play an all-star game made up of retired Industriales, a Cuban baseball team, in their stadium as scheduled under contract with the university.
Many, including Progreso Weekly and Semanal, have tried to talk / interview FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg to find out about this shameful and illegal incident. Until today Rosenberg has not given face to the incident to explain why FIU ignored and broke its contract with Canton. People in the know accuse Rosenberg of having succumbed to the pressure of a powerful group that represents Cuban Miami’s ultra-right. These include Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and other politicians from our own backyard.
For those who still have doubts we present this video taken at FIU, in the “Rafael Diaz-Balart” Auditorium of that institution’s Law School, the day (Saturday August 10) that the Industriales baseball team was to play its first game here in Miami at FIU Stadium. Rosenberg appears after the 1:30 mark of the video.
