Order your FREE at-home coronavirus tests, now

About two weeks ago, when taking my daughter to get tested for Covid, and since I was already there, I said, “Why not?” and got tested too. My daughter, after spending a week at home with flu-like symptoms from the virus, finally tested negative on this, her return visit. My test, though, came back positive. I quarantined at home, so as not to pass on the virus to others, and returned six days later where my test thankfully came back negative. Interestingly, I did not experience symptoms at all. Well, maybe a slight headache a couple of the nights and a funny taste in my mouth… but that was it.

And although I was told by my doctor that I was asymptomatic, I am eternally thankful to the doctors and scientists, and the U.S. government who paid for developing the vaccine, for making my bout with Covid-19 — at least this time — what it was, a chance to stay home and rest, with no side effects. I am convinced that the vaccine played a key role in how my organism reacted to the virus.

For those not vaccinated, please do so. It works. And as I told an unvaccinated neighbor in the building where I live, by getting vaccinated you’re showing that you care… for more than yourself.

Finally, the Biden administration has opened a website that allows people in the United States to order up to four free at-home coronavirus tests. Launched one day before it was supposed to, The New York Times was reporting that a “combined total of more than 1 million visitors were on the home page and the ordering page of covidtests.gov at one point Tuesday evening.” Like most everything else, these kits will run out. So if you have not done so, order yours, it may come in handy.
