Rivera’s back. And we thought we’d ridden ourselves of the cockroach
MIAMI – Have you ever stepped on a cockroach thinking you had killed the disgusting creature only to see it get up and run for cover seconds later? The situation reminded me of David Rivera and his bombshell plans to challenge incumbent Rep. Joe Garcia this fall.
Rivera announced that he will challenge Garcia for the 26th congressional district seat the incumbent wrested from him in 2012. The election is in November. Rivera had beaten Garcia in 2010.
When told of the Rivera decision even republicans were in shock. Rivera is still under federal investigation. Garcia has yet to comment on the Rivera decision.
The Miami Herald reported late Thursday night that “Rivera made his announcement on Spanish-language Mega TV and wouldn’t talk about the federal investigation, claiming that it was the result of lies propagated by The Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald, whose investigative work has resulted in one federal conviction and the recent federal indictment of the Republican’s close friend.”
In the same report the Herald wrote that “One of his fellow Republicans running against Garcia, Miami-Dade School Board Member Carlos Curbelo, issued a statement that blasted Rivera as well as Garcia, whose former campaign manager was recently jailed in an unrelated absentee ballot-request fraud scheme exposed by The Herald.”
I have only one more thing to say, or ask: “Could it be South Florida’s drinking water?”
The cockroach population keeps growing.
