Ouch!! Florida unemployment hits double digits
More bad news. The Miami Herald is reporting that unemployment hit double digits last month reaching 10.2 percent, according to Florida’s labor department. That figure is the highest for the state in more than 30 years.
As reported by the Herald, “Florida has lost 417,500 jobs, or 5.3 percent of the state total, over the past 12 months. The state lost 61,000 jobs in May alone, more than any other state except California.
“Miami-Dade’s unemployment rate was 9.8 percent, up from 8.2 percent last month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.”
