Miami Herald, el Nuevo slash 34 more jobs
Sources have informed that McClatchy Newspapers, owners of the The Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald, today announced that 34 more jobs will be eliminated from the Miami newspapers next week. A memo issued by Miami Herald Executive Editor Anders Gyllenhaal explained how the newsroom will be affected:
There will be a loss of three full-time jobs; the reduction of three full-time position and the elimination of one part-timer. These reductions include an assignment editor, one reporter and one photographer. Reductions to part-time roles are the world editing desk, the video staff and the online staff.
At the el Nuevo, one full-time and two part-timers have been notified that they are no longer in the Herald plans. All reductions and layoff become official on August 14.
