It’s called greed and it doesn’t belong here

We keep reading and hearing about the fiscal cliff. At the bottom, there’s a video I recommend. A 2 minute 30 second explanation by Robert Reich, which says it all and explains it to dummies on the economy – people like me.

At the same time, I keep hearing the politicians talking about cutting Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid and whatever else they can think of… in order to spare raising taxes on the wealthy. At moments like this and when the cameras aren’t rolling the president must turn his back on these legislators proposing these “austerity” cuts and basically say, “Kiss my ass!”

Why?

All you need to do is compare. What some of these legislators are seeking (and most are republicans, by the way) is to deny the elderly (who may not have all that is needed to take care of themselves) basic human rights – for example, healthcare, medicines, and even one of their daily meals. As for children, they want to do away with this country’s great equalizer – a quality public education. If mom and dad can’t afford it, they’re telling our children, then you’re screwed and deserve your second-class citizen status…

Now consider what the president wants the wealthy to do. Simply pay their fair share – a few bucks extra to help the country along. In other words, instead of paying 35 dollars, let’s say, on 100 dollars earned, let’s raise it to 39 (four dollars more) on those hundred. And this rate kicks in only after you’ve passed the 250,000-dollar threshold.

My question to you: Do you think that the rich person will miss a meal or a doctor’s visit because he had to pay four dollars more per every one hundred after he or she has passed the 250 thousand earned?

Oh, come on! It’s called greed! And it doesn’t belong in this country.
