Trump’s SOTU: A diatribe of hatred, fear, threats and lies
The 2019 State of the Union speech was a 90-minute diatribe of hatred, fear, threats, and lies by master of terror and twitter Donald Trump.
I will not take the time to interpret the full speech. It takes a psychologist and/or psychiatrist to understand this delusional modern day Narcissus. Allow me simply to delve into several topics touched by Trump Tuesday night.
One thing that we must start to consider and internalize, though: The U.S. government and its military industrial complex is the greatest terrorist threat on the face the earth. And its bin Laden is named Donald Trump.
Back to the speech. First and most shocking, I believe, was the threat. The president of the United States went on national television and threatened certain members of congress and the American people. There was a not so veiled warning when he rolled out his next bumper sticker:
“If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation.”
In other words, Donald Trump is telling us that for there to be peace in this country, and if we expect legislation to move the agenda of the people forward, there better not be any more investigations of him. This man truly believes he is above the law and can grind the U.S. to a halt if his orders are not followed. It’s a troubling and dangerous statement, to say the least
One last thing regarding it. When he mentions war, what is he referring to? Syria? Afghanistan? ISIS? Or might he be threatening to start one that will knock the investigations from the front pages of major newspapers and other press media outlets?
Hatred and cruelty
It is hard to understand Trump’s hatred for people from south of our borders. He said he was sending almost 4,000 U.S. troops to stop the hordes of marauders coming from South and Central America, as well as Mexico. Another theme that popped up were the caravans again forming and ready to attack the United States on the Mexican border.
People! take note. The caravans appear and disappear depending on Trump’s need to terrify the American voters…
And he is constantly referencing desperate people looking to save themselves and better their lives as murderers, rapists, prostitutes, drug dealers, and who knows what else. As he said, “Year after year, countless Americans are murdered by criminal illegal aliens.”
Later adding: “Not one more American life should be lost because our nation failed to control its very dangerous border. In the last two years, our brave ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of criminal aliens, including those charged or convicted of nearly 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 killings or murders.”
In other words, the U.S. would be free of crime and drugs and all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows if we only stopped the “illegals” from crossing over. Really?!
The reality is that the only thing that matters to Trump is his wall. It’s his vanity project. And it is his chance to tell anyone who might listen that he won… Nothing else matters to this man.
Venezuela
Remember that threat of war I referred to earlier… Trump went hard after the oil-rich South American country embroiled in a U.S.-created disaster already happening. Important to underline oil-rich in this paragraph, and then ask the question: Is this Iraq all over again?
He then blamed Venezuela’s problems on socialism while turning to two of his biggest political foes, Sen. Bernie Sanders and newly-elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He directed these words at them:
“Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. America was founded on liberty and independence — and not government coercion, domination and control. We are born free, and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country.”
Socialism
Trump and most American politicians understand perfectly well that the problem with Venezuela has nothing to do with socialism. In fact, the real problem is that Venezuelan oligarchs are not able to beat the Chavistas during election time because socialism has actually improved the lives of the millions of poor in that country that before Hugo Chavez had never even seen a doctor or a dentist, and their children a book!
So it’s time to depose the “dictator”! And carried out by the U.S. makes it democratic…
The Trumps of the world hate Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez for their commitment to real democracy. Theirs is a movement this country desperately needs. One that seeks to weaken the all-powerful corporations and restore power to the working people who really built and continue to build this great country.
Don’t allow Trump and his minions to package democracy with talking points like “born free” and “liberty and independence.” Nonsense and lies.
And dangerous.
