Will Lincoln attack Dos Rios?

What are Lincoln’s plans? U.S. Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart announced yesterday that he won’t seek reelection in November. Many are wondering what he will do once he relinquishes his congressional seat in January 2011.

Today’s Miami Herald gives just a bit of insight. Diaz-Balart speaks of starting “a nonprofit inspired by his father’s White Rose organization, the first anti-Castro exile group, which was founded in January 1959.” I would like to clarify why the Rosa Blanca or White Rose was formed, and in the words of its founder, Lincoln’s father, Rafael Diaz-Balart, who defined it in testimony before Congress on May 3, 1960. When asked about the White Rose, Diaz-Balart offered: “We formed a movement, an underground movement, which is working very hard in Cuba, with two principal purposes — to overthrow the dictatorship of the Communists, and to prevent any possibility of the return to power of Batista.”

So, who knows? Maybe Lincoln has intentions of invading Cuba. Does he see himself as a Jose Marti-like figure? Only the future will tell. The new year is less than two months old and already things are buzzing. It should get more interesting…

I wonder… can Lincoln ride a horse? And is he willing to stride onto the battle field — maybe Dos Rios?
