White House: Return Zelaya to power

There are no other options but to return Honduran President Manuel Zelaya to power, was the message from the White House earlier today, as reported by the Associated Press. Adding, “The comments came as Honduran President Manuel Zelaya planned to travel to Washington for a special gathering of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States. Thomas Shannon, the top U.S. diplomat for the Americas, planned to meet with Zelaya on Tuesday.”

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters that the United States was still reviewing whether to cut off aid to Honduras. Zelaya was forced into exile after soldiers stormed his palace Sunday.
