Son of Cuban immigrants to head the Martis, again

Dick Lobo will direct Radio and TV Marti as head of the Voice of America and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting. The U.S. Senate confirmed him on Thursday.Dick Lobo

Lobo, who now lives in Sarasota but has moved to Washington, ran the Tampa PBS station WEDU-Ch. 3 for eight years until stepping down in May, reported The St. Petersburg Times.

He is the grandson of Cuban immigrants and a graduate of the University of Miami. This is his second stint at the Marti’s. He headed the operation in 1994 under President Bill Clinton.

Lobo served as general manager of WTVJ Channel 4 in Miami before that.
