Sale de servicio la termoeléctrica Guiteras (+English)
La Central Termoeléctrica (CTE) Antonio Guiteras, la unitaria más potente del país, capaz de generar unos 230 MW, acaba de salir de servicio.
Después de unos tres meses de recibir mantenimiento y de llevar incorporada al servicio unas escasas 70 horas, falló nuevamente. Los fallos en esa CTE han sido recurrentes.
El ingeniero Rubén Campos Olmos, director de esta CTE, “comentó que ahora toca evaluar el daño, tras el necesario período de enfriamiento que tomaría poco más de 72 horas y razonó que la falla aconteció a pesar del significativo número de mejoras que le incorporaron”, según reportó la emisora Radio 256 de matanzas.
“En honor a la verdad, el punto rojo de la Guiteras continúa siendo la caldera, equipamiento causante en los últimos meses del mayor número de salidas del sistema”, señaló la nota de la citada emisora.
La Guiteras, así llamada comúnmente por matanceros y cubanos, fue inaugurada en 1988, pero lleva unos 35 años de servicio. Según las normas internacionales, la vida de estas plantas es de unos 25 años por lo que llevaría 10 años de sobrexplotación.
La pregunta que flota en el ambiente no es otra que a cuántas reparaciones capitales ha sido sometido en sus 35 años.
Ahora, con su nueva salida del Sistema Eléctrico Nacional (SEN), compromete el plan de tener un verano con menos apagones e impacta en los apagones actuales.

Cuba’s Guiteras thermoelectric plant is out of service
The Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE), the most powerful in Cuba, and capable of generating some 230 MW, is out of service.
After about three months of maintenance and a meager 70 hours in service, it has failed again. The failures in that CTE have been recurrent.
The engineer, Rubén Campos Olmos, director of this CTE, commented that “now it is time to assess the damage, after the necessary cooling period that would take just over 72 hours and reasoned that the failure occurred despite the significant number of improvements that were made,” reported Matanzas radio station Radio 256.
“In honor of the truth, the problem with the Guiteras continues to be the boiler, equipment that has caused the largest number of outages in the system in recent months,” said the release by the aforementioned station.
La Guiteras, as it is commonly called by most Cubans, was inaugurated in 1988, and has been in service for about 35 years. According to international standards, the life of these plants is about 25 years, so it has been overexploited by 10 years.
The question floating around is how many capital repairs it has undergone in its 35 years of existence.
Now, with this newest breakdown, it compromises the plan to have a summer with fewer blackouts and impacts the current ones occurring.
