OFAC announces “Specific License” for repeat Cuba travelers

(Editor’s Note: Thank you very much to the Cuba travel company Marazul for its help in providing this important information for so many of our readers.)

The Office of Foreign Assets Control OFAC has just issued the “Specific License Format” for people who already have traveled to Cuba after March 11, 2009, using the “General License to Visit Close Relatives in Cuba” and need to travel again.

Each person must complete the application for the “Specific License” and mail it to the address on the form. Once the approval is received you only need to visit your trusted agency for your travel arrangements.

____   I have already traveled to Cuba using the “General License for Visits to

Close Relatives in Cuba” issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control on

March 11, 2009.

_____   The person I seek to visit in Cuba is my Close Relative, or I am accompanying another traveler to visit his or her Close Relative in Cuba and I share a common dwelling as a family with that traveler.

1. I understand that my “Close Relative” is any individual related to me by blood, marriage or adoption who is no more than three generations removed from me or from my common ancestor with that person.

2. I understand that I can qualify for a license if I am accompanying someone with whom I share a common dwelling as a family and who is visiting his or her “Close Relative” pursuant to an OFAC license.

(Each person must complete a separate application form.)

By checking the two boxes above, I state that I am qualified to travel to Cuba. I certify that this information is true and correct.
