In search of a face 

In 2010, filmmaker Tupac Pinilla, together with composer and singer Israel Rojas, invited me to work with them on the video clip of Everyone Belongs (Todo el Mundo cuenta), a song inspired by the José Martí philosophy of country and community that would become part of the Buena Fe record π (3.14). I had to capture in pictures the face of Cuba based on the concept that the actual wording of the song suggests.

Nearly five years later I’m still looking for it in people. That fanciful task offered me by both of them became an obsession, photographing everyday life, the faces of its children. Without ever having a script the looks are interspersed through my lens – facial features, gestures, smiles and sadness, with the natural and ideological landscapes of the places where I’ve been.
