Good news for Sink – Chiles to drop out
I keep reading that Bud Chiles, son of former Florida governor and U.S. Senator Lawton Chiles (who by defeated Jeb Bush in his first quest for governor of Florida during the decade of the 90s) will quit his run for governor as an Independent candidate. Chiles is expected to make his announcement on Thursday.
If true, it is probably very good news for Democrat Alex Sink. Chiles, as son of a former very popular democrat, would have probably pulled votes away from Sink.
Alex Sink is in an interesting battle with political newcomer Rick Scott, who defeated Bill McCollum (who was backed by Jeb Bush and others), in a hotly contested primary race. Scott spent about $50 million of his own money to assure his victory.
