Maxim Martsinkevich was put on a direct commercial flight from Havana to Moscow, where he arrived Monday night (Jan. 27). He was immediately arrested and faces charges that could send him to prison for at least five years, according to Russian law.

According to the Russian press, the Cuban authorities deported Martsinkevich because he allegedly had lost his passport and did nothing to replace it.
