Help send lifesaving medical supplies to Cuba
Together with Global Health Partners and the Saving Lives Campaign, the Center for Cuban Studies is helping to launch an urgent drive to send scarce anesthesia machines and sutures to Havana’s main trauma surgery center, Calixto Garcia Hospital. Join us to rush these vital supplies to Cuba!
Calixto Garcia has 23 operating rooms, but only TWO working anesthesia machines. The hospital’s dedicated medical staff needs to perform more than 50 lifesaving surgeries each day, but lacks the necessary equipment.
BECAUSE OF THE U.S. EMBARGO, Cuba can’t buy these vital machines and surgical supplies, so we are helping to send them ourselves, building on our successful effort that delivered 7,000,000 Covid vaccination syringes and tons of PPE to Cuba.
Act now to show your solidarity with a country that has done so much to ensure the health of its own people, while also fighting disease around the world. Cuba’s international medical brigades have treated patients, trained medical staff and saved lives in 53 countries over the past 16 years, confronting national disaster, serious epidemics such as the Ebola crisis in West Africa and Covid-19.
With your support we can supply Calixto Garcia with 5 anesthesia machines, desperately needed surgical equipment, and enough sutures for 9,000 surgeries. Global Health Partners and the Saving Lives Campaign—to which CCS belongs–are committed to paying for this.
