Chávez goes to Cuba to continue medical treatment

CARACAS, 27 Nov 2012 – (AVN) – The National Assembly on Tuesday approved a request made by President Hugo Chávez to continue his medical treatment in Cuba.

The request was sent to the Assembly’s ordinary session that was held in Maracay, state of Aragua, to commemorate the Day of Military Aviation and the events of Nov. 27, 1992.

In his request, ready by National Assembly chairman Diosdado Cabello, President Chávez explains that, to consolidate the strengthening of his health, he will undergo a special treatment that includes several sessions of hyperbaric oxygenation.

That treatment and physiotherapy “continue to consolidate the strengthening of my health that I’ve been experiencing,” said Chávez, who added that after the latest therapy, six months ago, “I’ve been looking after the proper care of my health and zealously abiding by the complementary plan of treatment, as coordinated by the medical team that treats me.”

In the text, the President also mentions that after the [presidential election] of Oct. 7, he has been working hard on the duties of his office, as well as pushing forward matters related to the start of a new cycle of the Bolivarian Revolution and drafting the Second Socialist Plan for the Nation’s Development, for his 2013-2019 term.

This plan, whose construction will be based on the proposals of the people, summoned to a constitutional process, will be submitted to Parliament on Jan. 10, 2013, after the President takes the oath of office for his new term.

“Comandante, the people of Venezuela hope that you will continue with this alternative therapy to continue to move forward in your recovery. Have a good trip! Here, the people are with you,” said Diosdado Cabello after the president’s request was submitted to the Assembly and approved.
