There are still countless ways for Americans to visit Cuba legally
Last week saw unfortunate changes regarding US travel to Cuba reminding us that Cuba continues to be a political football thrown around by politicians ahead of each election cycle, reported the staff of Cuba Educational Travel, adding that it strongly believes Americans should be able to freely travel where they would like, and restrictions on Cuba travel are unconstitutional, unfair, and unproductive.
“We are in this for the long run,” reported CET, and added, “We believe that we can create positive change through travel and cultural exchanges between Cuba and the US.
There are still many ways for Americans to legally visit Cuba, reported CET. The organization assures that it will be working tirelessly to bring as many Americans to Cuba and Cubans to the U.S. as possible. “As some try to divide and separate, travel and exchange are more important than ever,” they said.
There are still countless ways for Americans to visit Cuba legally. These include:
- Professional Meetings & Research allows travelers to participate in meetings, conferences and events and take part in fact-finding trips. This is quite broad and can range from holding a company board meeting in Cuba to a group of people from the music industry taking part in a music-focused tour to attending a workshop or conference.
- Support for the Cuban People is a great category for families, groups of friends and others to visit Cuba and see and do a lot. The trip just needs to support Cuban entrepreneurs, cultural groups and other Cubans, which CET trips always do.
- Academic Travel is still very much authorized and universities, high schools and other academic institutions can and will continue to visit the island.
The list goes on. Sports teams can travel for sporting competitions, musicians can visit to perform, travelers that want to support Cuban NGOs can do so under the humanitarian travel category and Americans with family on the island can travel under the family visits category.
