Military parade (without tanks) in Havana
Representatives of mass organizations, the armed forces, labor centers and people in general paraded this morning (Jan. 2) in the José Martí Revolution Plaza in the Cuban capital.
On this the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), and in honor of the historic landing of the Yacht Granma (December 2, 1956), and in recognition of Fidel Castro, this day was celebrated by practically all branches of infantry with a military parade without demonstrating any means of combat.
Cuban President Raúl Castro Ruz and Jenifer Bello, the youngest member of Cuba’s Council of State, took to the stage to proclaim that Cuba will not stop demanding the lifting of the blockade, the return of the Naval Base of Guantánamo, and the closing of the subversive programs that the United States organizes against the Island.
