Will the Industriales find a place to play in Miami?

A group of 10 retired former Industriales baseball players arrived in Miami late Sunday night from Havana. As former members of Cuba’s most famous baseball team, they are here to celebrate 50 years of Industriales. And the plan was to play several old timers games against former Industriales ballplayers now living in the United States. But… a small minority of powerful Cubans in Miami won’t allow it. The first place to say no to the organizers was Florida International University (FIU), who had signed a contract with the Somos Cuba group. Were they pressured to renege? FIU refuses to answer questions. Alejandro Canton, the promoter, has promised that Industriales will play even if it’s in a canebrake.
