Progreso Weekly needs your help. Pitch in, please.

For 20 years Progreso Weekly and Semanal have brought you news from Cuba, Miami, the United States, and other parts of the world. Information that is hard to get, especially in Miami, where we are from. We’ve always viewed the relationship between the two sides of the Cuba issue, not from one that favors U.S. or Cuba, but that tries to bridge families torn apart by the politics on both sides of our shores.

We’ve been successful. And part of that success has been due to the economic help offered by a number of persons and U.S. businesses that had the foresight to see the need for such a media outlet as ours. Most importantly, we must thank, first and foremost, Marazul, whose founder Francisco Aruca founded us and made us viable. But Marazul has been more than Aruca, both here in Miami and New Jersey. We owe a debt of gratitude to every single person who works and has worked there, we thank them all for supporting this project from day one. We must also recognize so many others, from ABC Charters to XAEL, Wilson and so many who over the years have contributed to our well-being.

But times are tough, and we cannot continue to ask these folks who have given so much to squeeze out dollars that, under these political and pandemic conditions, they just don’t have. And it is why I write this letter to you, our readers. Many who have been with us since our first day.

Starting in December we must make a decision to either stop publishing Progreso Weekly / Semanal, or ask for your help to carry us through the middle of next year, at which time we will calibrate again and see how things are going, and whether we can again ask for help from supporters to continue with this very worthwhile project of love, and much needed information.

We’ve set a goal of $3,000 to carry us through the next few months. And we’re asking for YOUR help. If you can chip in with $5, $20, $100 or more, any amount will help. By reaching our goal, we will be able to keep Progreso Weekly alive, on a limited basis, until we have a new president in the U.S. and hopefully a better handle on the Covid-19 virus.

SO PLEASE, CHIP IN AND HELP US STAY AFLOAT.

THANK YOU.
