on position held) plus, election days worked. To work in the upcoming
Primary Election of August 26, 2008, candidates must apply by June

Poll
workers say they find participating in elections exciting and
rewarding,” said Supervisor of Elections Lester Sola. “It’s a
great way to get involved in your community and earn a few extra
dollars. For young people and students, it’s an impressive addition
to their resume.”

Miami-Dade
County Poll Workers are a highly diverse group, from professionals
and self-employed individuals to senior citizens and students. They
are driven to do everything possible to ensure that registered voters
conveniently and easily cast their ballots on Election Day.

Poll
Workers must be able to read and write English and required to take a
paid training course prior to an Election.
 The
polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Poll Workers are not permitted
to leave their assigned polling place on Election Day. All Poll
Workers must be at their assigned polling place at 6 a.m. on Election
morning.

Responsibilities
and compensation vary depending on the position. The day ends for
Inspectors and the Deputy when all ballots have been accounted for
and all materials have been packed away. The Clerk and Assistant
Clerk must transport the voted ballots to a
 Collection Center.
Once someone has worked at the polls on Election Day, they do not
have to apply again to work in the next Election of November 4, 2008.

While
every effort is made to schedule Poll Workers to work in their home
precincts, some will be assigned to work in another nearby precinct.
