If the murderer had been Chávez, not Netanyahu

The U.S. Fourth Fleet, based in Mayport, Fla., composed of one aircraft carrier and three nuclear submarines, two dozen cruisers and destroyers, 120 F-22 and F-117 warplanes, six squadrons of AH-64 (Apache) helicopters, 60 tanks and 20,000 marines, backed by B-2 bombers, AWACs and other aircraft, is heading for the coast of Venezuela to impose a total blockade of the ports of Aguay, La Ceiba, Bajo Grande, Punta de Piedras, El Tablazo, Punta Cardón, Guanta, Sucre, Ordaz, Bajo Grande, La Guaira, Puerto Cabello and Pertigalete.

The Pentagon, together with the High Command of the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force, has established a zone of aerial exclusion over the Venezuelan air space, backed by the Patriot antimissile missiles stationed in Colombia and Honduras, to prevent any attempt by dictator Hugo Chávez to use nuclear-tipped missiles against his neighbors and the United States.

In Colombia, the Pentagon also has begun to reinforce, with air-lifted forces and troops stationed in the seven jointly operated bases, the land borders of that country with Venezuela. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Richard Gates today explained at a news conference that the U.S. will not be satisfied with a lukewarm condemnation of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela by the United Nations Security Council.

“Elite forces of the Bolivarian National Navy from the Rear Adm. Agustín Armario Naval Base in Puerto Cabello, state of Carabobo, traveling in several Guaicamacuto GC-21 BVLs (Coastline Surveillance Vessels), Guaicamacuto patrol boats (GC-21), Yecuana (PC-33) and Kariña corvettes (PC-24), and Pozvee patrol boats – all of them built in Spain – attacked in Caribbean international waters the six Freedom Flotilla ships that carried 750 peaceful anti-Chávez activists and members of NGOs from various countries. The attackers fired into the civilians causing the death of between 9 and 19 persons and leaving dozens wounded,” Gates said.

For her part, Hillary Clinton said that “the Venezuelan dictator, in one of his habitual operations of propaganda and distraction, has clumsily accused the murdered civilians of carrying weapons on board and being linked to the CIA, the Mossad and the Colombian intelligence services.”

President Obama, accompanied by the departing chief of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, said that his secret services for a long time have had precise information that dictator Chávez was ready to provoke an international diplomatic conflict, wielding the lame excuse of legitimate defense.

“As part of his plan to set fire to the entire region, the dictator planned to invade Colombia with the aid of the FARC and topple any and all governments in Latin America and the Caribbean that don’t submit to the designs of the ALBA and the Latin American Axis of Evil,” Obama said.

According to Blair, “Chávez thus wanted to concretize his much-vaunted dream of building a great Bolivarian nation, which in reality would be nothing but a giant regional dictatorship.”

After a moment of silence, and with as serious a face as Obama has ever displayed, the president made a revelation that astounded his listeners. “Our nation’s determination to blockade and occupy Venezuela, arrest Chávez and take him to Guantánamo for trial by one of our courts martial, is in response to a security issue involving the whole of humanity.

“We have irrefutable proof that the Caribbean dictator shelters in the Venezuelan jungle, south of the Orinoco River, Osama bin Laden and his hordes. Not only that. [Iran’s President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad has surreptitiously delivered to Venezuela enriched uranium that can be used in the nuclear warheads of missiles emplaced in northern Venezuela, near Caripe, aimed at the United States.

“As if this weren’t enough to justify our crusade – for which we shall ask for the financial and military support of all our allies and the advice of important statesmen such as Spaniard José María Aznar – it is my responsibility to inform the whole world of a discovery of the greatest importance, which settles one of the major unanswered questions of our time.

“Our intelligence services have finally discovered where the weapons of mass destruction that my predecessor searched for indefatigably for several years in Iraqi territory were hidden,” the president said. “Today, we have proof that they were secretly transported to the Barinas region of Venezuela by Saddam Hussein, before he was captured. They are under the direct custody of the Chávez family.”

No sooner did Barack Obama’s press conference end, that the White House telephones began to ring in unison. All the leaders of the European Union, the United Nations, Israel and many other countries hastened to call the Afro-American president to express to him their thanks and to place themselves at his disposal so they could together undertake such a praiseworthy crusade.

At the urging of European leaders and prestigious think tanks, such as the Spanish FAES, President Obama agreed to urgently summon to Florida an international summit to study the possibility of expanding to Cuba the great crusade, known as Operation Free Latin America. The operation, a continuation of the Iraqi and Afghan interventions, would arrest the Castro brothers and place them in the nearby Guantánamo Base prison.

Representatives of various business federations, led by Spaniard Gerardo Díaz Ferrán, suggested how convenient it would be to complete the great operation of democratic surgery with the removal of other totalitarian regimes such as those of cocaine-sniffing Evo Morales, Rafael Correa, former guerrilla leaders Daniel Ortega and Pepe Mujica, red priest Fernando Lugo, guerrilla apologist Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and anyone who dared challenge the interests of the multinational corporations, which worry so much about the welfare of the people.

In that sense, Díaz Ferrán took the road opened by German President Horst Köhler, who last May was forced to resign after bravely justifying the missions of the German Army in Afghanistan and other countries with these words:

“A country of our size, with its focus on exports and therefore reliant on foreign trade, must be aware that military deployments are necessary in an emergency to protect our interests – for example, when it comes to trade routes [or] when it comes to preventing regional instabilities that could negatively affect our trade, jobs and incomes.”

Obama and his European allies, as well as the U.N., the International Monetary Fund, the Inter-American Development Bank, the most important multinational corporations and lobbies agree that the resources that will be liberated by Operation Free Latin America can provide an excellent solution – short- or medium-term – to the current financial world crisis.
