Cuban 5 member granted permission to travel by Judge Lenard
Must now await permission from U.S. government to visit ailing brother in Cuba

U.S. District Judge Joan A. Lenard today granted Rene Gonzalez, a member of the Cuban Five currently serving a term of supervised release in Miami, the right to travel to Cuba to visit his ailing brother.
Rene has been allowed by the court to travel for a span of two weeks to visit Roberto Gonzalez, who is in the terminal stages of lung and brain cancer. Roberto lives in Cuba.
According to the judge’s order, Rene must:
1.) Obtain all necessary permission, licenses, and/or clearance from the United States Government, including the Department of State and Department of the Treasury, separate and apart from this Order.
2.) Submit to his probation officer a written, detailed itinerary of his travel, including flight numbers, routing, location, and contact information, as well as copies of all necessary clearances and licenses obtained from the United States Government.
3.) During his absence from the district of supervision, report telephonically to his probation officer as directed by his probation officer.
