Nine days of mourning in Cuba

HAVANA – The Organizing Committee for the funeral of Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro announced that the country will remain in national mourning for nine days because of the death of the historic leader of the Cuban revolution.

As reported yesterday (Friday) by President Raúl Castro when he offered the news of the Cuban leader’s passing on television, the Organizing Committee has announced that Fidel’s ashes will be on display at the José Martí Memorial, in Havana’s Revolution Plaza as of Monday, Nov. 28.

In this historic place of important commemorations, attendees will be able to sign the solemn oath of the concept of Revolution offered by Fidel.

Fidel’s ashes will be laid to rest on December 4 in the Santa Ifigenia cemetery in Santiago, after a tour across the entire island that recalls, in reverse, the Caravan of Freedom of January 1959.

In that city, Santiago de Cuba, an event for the masses will take place in the Antonio Maceo Revolution Plaza.
