Pussy

It’s a word used to describe a cat and even a coward. Donald Trump — and he’s not alone in this — uses it to describe a woman’s genitalia.

Last week The Washington Post published a video of Trump explaining to Billy Bush (yes, he IS related to the Bushes) a method he uses to snare women. The Republican presidential candidate tells his interviewer that he gets away with it because “when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”

Interestingly, the phrase that has gotten the most play everywhere — from social media to television — has been Donald boasting that he “grab[s] them by the pussy.”

Yes… pussy. It was funny to see a Trump campaign surrogate, a woman, on CNN, become unhinged by Ana Navarro’s use of the word because her daughter was watching. Navarro thereafter lectures the surrogate on Trump and pussy. Navarro is a Republican talking head who for months has been harping about what a “disgusting man” Donald Trump is. Let me add that I disagree with Ana Navarro, from Miami, on many, many things, but not when it comes to her disgust with Trump.

I also find interesting the fact that many Trump enablers are now coming around to realizing that Trump is a loose cannon, and not what this nation needs as president. But the saddest part of this whole argument may be the fact that what may have finally lost the election for the Donald was his use of the word pussy.

Many of these same Republicans, and other Trump followers for that matter, have been willing to overlook much more disgusting and reckless things uttered by Trump since he began his campaign. Here are just a few quotes that were simply overlooked by many of the same people now appalled with Trump’s behavior and words:

  • “An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that Barack Obama’s birth certificate is a fraud.”
  • “You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass.”
  • “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best. They’re not sending you, they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bring crime. They’re rapists… And some, I assume, are good people.”
  • “Our great African-American President hasn’t exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore.”
  • “The beauty of me is that I’m very rich.”
  • “It’s freezing and snowing in New York – we need global warming!”
  • “I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
  • “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes.” …Blood coming out of her wherever.” (Click here to watch the interchange with Don Lemon as Trump talks of Megyn Kelly.)

I wrote this before the second presidential debate. I look forward to seeing how Trump defends the indefensible before the American voters tonight. Yet, I am sure, there will still be millions who stand by the Trumpster.

Which brings me to my point. It’s not about Hillary Clinton and all her problems. And it’s not even about Trump himself, who really is disgusting in so many ways, just not his treatment of women.

The problem is, I strongly believe, that in this country that calls itself the greatest, there are so many millions of persons willing to vote for an orange-haired, orangutan of a man, who has no idea what it takes to be president of the United States. Then there’s a bunch of others who simply refuse to vote.

I’ll finish with what I told a friend, about Trump voters, that will outrage some: If this is what one-half of America looks like, as a country… we’re fucked!
