Crist still leads Florida’s Senate race

TALLAHASSEE — Combating the Gulf oil spill gives Gov. Charlie Crist’s U.S. Senate candidacy a big boost, but winning will depend on keeping skeptical Democrats on his side, according to a new poll.

The poll showed Crist leading Republican Marco Rubio by 37 to 33 percent, with U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, D-Miami Gardens, polling 17 percent. If the Democrats nominate newcomer Jeff Greene, the poll showed Crist leading 40-33 percent over Rubio and Greene getting 14 percent of the vote.
