Clerk of Courts Harvey Ruvin approved the recall petition form late Wednesday, giving billionaire Miami businessman Norman Braman the green light to press ahead with a ballot initiative that seeks to oust Alvarez.

Braman — who launched the recall amid a new county budget that calls for increases in the property tax rate while hiking salaries — must collect signatures from at least four percent of registered voters within 60 days to put the question to voters in a special election.

“The petition will be going to the printers tomorrow and we expect to be out this weekend collecting signatures,” said Teresa Encalada, an aide to Braman. A press conference is planned Friday.
